Bill has been a DEC board member since April 2020 and is studying and attending classes to become a Credentialed Cooperative Director. He was raised in the Yoncalla area and worked most of his life in Douglas County. Bill’s experience includes having been a member of the Yoncalla School Board and serving on the board’s budget committee. He is presently vice president and a board member of the Umpqua chapter of the Oregon Hunter’s Association.
Bill enjoys volunteering and served as a club leader in 4-H and FFA programs. Since graduating from Yoncalla High School in 1971, Bill worked for Douglas Forest Protective Association, held positions at a lumber mill, volunteered as an EMT for North Douglas Emergency Services, and was a heavy equipment operator in logging and construction. He and his wife, Ardith, who died of cancer in 2006, have 3 grown sons.
