Red Flag Warning Response

****Red Flag Warning Ended 7/4/2023 at 8:00PM****

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 2pm to 8pm today. This issuance is caused by numerous factors that contribute to critical fire weather conditions, including forecasted low relative humidity, high temperatures and gusty winds. Fire potential is especially heightened due to fireworks use.

As a part of our fire mitigation plan, we will placing the protective devices in the affected areas to their most sensitive settings as well as having lineman in the field to respond as needed. A power outage is more likely to occur when these setting are applied and it is also likely to last longer than normal to allow for the affected line to be fully patrolled before we re-energize. The affected line must be patrolled by our lineman to ensure that it is clear and able to be energized safely. Barring any changes to fire or weather conditions, these settings will remain in place until tomorrow morning, when we will return our system to normal operations. These actions are being taken to protect our members and to promote public safety, and we appreciate your patience.

All Douglas Electric Cooperative members who live in the area shown below will be affected. For more information on the Red Flag Warning, please follow this link: RED FLAG WARNING
