We Are Thankful for Your Membership
I want to express my gratitude for your membership in Douglas Electric Cooperative (DEC). All of our members have an impact on the cooperative and our shared goal of making this community a better place.
1 of our core principles is Concern for the Community. We prioritize providing our members with the most reliable service at the lowest possible cost. We also have a role as a community supporter.
We work with others for sustainable development. We partner with charities, support local sports teams and participate in community events, such as Zoobilee at Wildlife Safari. We also attend local school career fairs. We provide information to students about career paths at utility cooperatives during the Southern Oregon Trade Careers Expo.
In 2024, we will sponsor a student for the weeklong Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C., so they can experience our nation’s history and democracy. This trip is an amazing opportunity, and we are honored to be part of this program. Alumni of past youth tours are eligible to apply for scholarships to further their educational goals.
Our community benefits from these programs and events because of you. You empower DEC through your membership and support. When you attend the annual meeting, provide suggestions or let us know about issues, you help us improve operations to better serve all of our members.
DEC is locally governed by our board of directors, who represent your priorities. We get a firsthand perspective that guides our long-term investments in equipment, technology upgrades and new technologies, such as electric vehicles.
We recognize that our board members take time to attend important training sessions, participate in planning meetings and stay well-informed about industry trends. Our directors’ investment in DEC results in informed advisers who serve our members in ways you expect and deserve.
DEC appreciates the acts of kindness our lineworkers and employees receive when they are working in dangerous and extreme weather conditions. We are thankful for your patience and consideration when we are restoring power.
Together, we can continue to help our community thrive.
Happy Thanksgiving!
