Stay Connected, Stay Prepared
Wildfire season and extreme weather may lead to longer power outages, especially when conditions like high winds or severe storms damage the electric system. While Douglas Electric Cooperative crews are prepared to respond as quickly and safely as possible, there are steps we can take to be better prepared before an emergency happens.
Take a few moments now to help us serve you better if an outage happens:
- Update your contact information. DEC needs your current phone number and email on file for important outage notifications.
- If you have a locked gate, make sure we have the correct gate code. Crews must be able to quickly access your property when needed.
- Put together an easy-to-access emergency kit. Find suggested supplies on the Storm Outage Safety page.
- Review our power outage tips to help you stay safe and comfortable during an outage. Visit the Power Outage Tips page for more information.
- Sign up for local emergency alerts in Douglas County. Visit the Emergency Management page for more information.
