Dear Members,
I encourage you to attend the Douglas Electric Cooperative (DEC) annual membership meeting Saturday, April 1, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Our annual meeting is a special event we look forward to every year. This year, we return to our traditional meeting format. We sorely missed engaging with you in person with pandemic precautions in place.
At the annual meeting, DEC will have refreshments, gifts, door prizes, a delicious lunch, a drawing for bill credits, booth displays and information about our shared history. If you have any questions about the cooperative, member services representatives and DEC staff are on hand and happy to help.
As a member, you have a voice in DEC matters and decisions. We urge you to participate in setting policies and making decisions by electing representatives to the board of directors. You will receive your ballot and other meeting materials with the March issue of Ruralite. If you cannot attend the meeting, please return your ballot by mail to DEC headquarters at 1981 Northeast Stephens Street or our outside drop box by Saturday, April 1, so your vote can be counted.
On the agenda are an election of your directors, a presentation of financials, the state of the cooperative and proposed bylaw changes. A copy of our current bylaws and proposed changes can be found at our Bylaws page.
We are excited to see you in person this year. We look forward to greeting old friends, forming new friendships and planning the future of DEC.
Sincerely,
Keith Brooks
