Manager's Message
Our new Douglas Electric Cooperative (DEC) headquarters at 1981 Northeast Stephens Street in Roseburg officially opened November 7. We want to thank our members and board of directors, who helped make this achievement possible. Please visit us at the new building.
The upcoming holiday season typically revolves around family and friends. We wish our members, directors, employees and families all the best. During this season of giving thanks, it’s important to let our members know their impact on our cooperative and the greater community.
Members empower the co-op through membership, participation and support of charitable programs. The Douglas Electric Goodwill Program donates to local nonprofit organizations and participates in events such as the Wildlife Safari Zoobilee.
For the first time in several years, DEC plans to send a student delegate to represent our cooperative at the Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., in 2023, so they can experience democracy in action. Watch our website, www.dec.coop, for more information and an application.
When members attend co-op events, alert us to problems and provide suggestions, they help us improve operations and better serve our communities.
We are thankful our board members take time to attend important training sessions, participate in planning meetings and stay current on industry trends. Our board members invest their time, which results in a group of informed advisers who serve the co-op’s interests in a way our members expect and deserve.
DEC appreciates the countless acts of kindness our lineworkers and other employees receive when working in severe weather and dangerous conditions. Our employees are thankful for your patience and consideration when restoring power.
It’s also time to prepare for winter weather. Please stock up on food, water, flashlights, batteries, lanterns, extra blankets and firstaid items.
On behalf of Douglas Electric Cooperative, enjoy a safe and happy holiday season!
Sincerely,
Keith Brooks
