Beware of Cyber Scams!

Protect Yourself Online

Dear Neighbors,

In today’s digital world, you manage your banking, shopping, bills, and entertainment online using your computer, smartphone, or other connected device. These advancements make our lives more convenient, but unfortunately, they also open doors to cyber criminals whose techniques are evolving as quickly as technology itself.

How can you best protect yourself? Most importantly, only conduct business on secure websites. Scammers are adept at setting up fake websites to phish for your login and payment information. To avoid their scams, double-check the URL is correct and encrypted, meaning it will read https as opposed to http in the web address section. You will also see a padlock symbol next to the address when it is secure. Remember to use a unique and complex password to protect yourself from password cracking. A phrase is better than a word, and you can mix upper and lower-case letters with symbols and numbers to increase the complexity.

Your security online is of utmost importance to us at DFN. We provide advanced network technology with regular audits of our systems to help keep your information protected from cybercriminals. We are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Douglas Electric, and we are committed to keeping our neighbors safe and connected.

Sincerely,
Todd Way
